Winter in Bansko

Winter

The ski runs are equipped with artificial snow machines to guarantee perfect skiing conditions at all times. The total length of marked ski runs is 65 km (including 7km which are floodlit most nights!). The average temperature during January, the coldest month, is - 1.9°C and snow falls are generally abundant, providing a constant winter snow cover up to 2 metres thick.

All of the lifts are new, and of the latest designs, and the mountain restaurants are also new and (by Alpine standards) incredibly cheap. The entire ski infrastructure reminds you more of North American resorts than the aging (aged) systems we are used to in Europe.

  • Slopes: 930m to 2560m
  • Lifts: 23
  • Pistes: 65km - 35% blue, 40% red, 25% black

It is a resort catering more to the advancing than the advanced skier - but a quick drop off the back into the deeper Pirin will quickly test anyone's capabilities.

  • Skiing (snowboarding etc.)
  • Skidoo
  • Snow-shoeing
  • Sleigh rides
  • Cross-country skiing
